Turning Back Towards Home: Southeast through Montana

July 10 – 12, 2016: Glacier National Park marked the northernmost point on our epic 2016 road trip and, unfortunately, we are now slowly headed back east to New Jersey.

*** PHOTOS COMING SOON ***

As we made our way southeast through Montana we stopped in Great Falls, Billings, and Crow Agency. In Billings we visited Thirsty Street Brewing Co., Trailhead Spirits (highly recommend), and Überbrew. In Crow Agency we visited Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument. It was here that the Lakotas and other Native Americans fought to protect their land in the Black Hills and their way of life from the wrongful and deceitful acts of the American soldiers. The national monument contains grave markers of the American soldiers from the 7th cavalry and a recently erected Indian memorial that was dedicated in 2003. It was astonishing to realize that it was only in 1991 that the national memorial was renamed from Custer Battlefield National Monument to Little Bighorn Battlefield National Memorial.

We crossed into Wyoming and had a beer at The Black Tooth Brewing Company in Sheridan. We drove through Buffalo and, although it is reported to be a cute town, we didn’t find compelling enough reason to stop.
