The Otago Peninsula is home to an abundance of interesting wildlife. Notably: the Blue Penguins (Kororā) at Pukekura, the Yellow Eyed Penguin (Hoiho), and the Royal Albatross.
The beautiful Sandy Hook unit of the Gateway National Recreation Area is basically in our backyard. Yet it is easy to overlook the splendor in our own neighborhoods.
We spent two nights camping at Worthington State Forest in Columbia, New Jersey – just a few miles from the Pennsylvania border and the adjacent Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Worthington State Forest was the best public campground we’ve stayed at in New Jersey.
Kauai is the fourth largest island in the Hawaiian Islands. We spent one week on Kauai, nicknamed The Garden Isle. We hiked, took a doors-off helicopter tour (!), and enjoyed some time at the beach and pool.
Maui is the second largest island in the Hawaiian Islands. We spent five days on Maui, nicknamed The Valley Isle. We hiked a variety of landscapes – especially in Haleakalā National Park, drove the Road to Hana, and marveled at the beauty across the island.
Our 2014 road trip and our 2016 road trip in Camper Dan gave us the opportunity to explore many of the 50 states in the United States.
