New Year’s Eve at Betty and Wilbur Davis State Park, New York

After some serious winter blues, a New Year’s Eve weekend at a cabin in the woods at Betty and Wilbur Davis State Park sounded perfect.

Much to our delight, we were able to nab one of the six cabins at Betty and Wilbur Davis State Park in Westford, New York. The cabins sleep 8 people and include linens and kitchen/bath supplies. They are a steal at $150 per night (before a reservation fee and out-of-state resident fee).

TIP: Cabin 5 has the BEST views. Seriously.

We enjoyed an amazing long weekend complete with great company, fantastic food, frustrating puzzles, hysterical board games, and hiking in a serene setting.

TIP: Andy’s Trail at Betty and Wilbur Davis State Park is a 2.7 mile loop trail that is the perfect mix of flat and hilly terrain and wooded and open fields. Be sure to pause to soak in the views.

We didn’t leave the park but there is a lot to do in nearby Cooperstown.

NOTE: We love to getaway for New Year’s Eve. NYE 2012 was spent in Savannah, Georgia and NYE 2013 in Austin, Texas. However, NYE 2014, 2015 and 2016 were ALL spent in our home-state of New Jersey as we prepared to depart on our sabbatical year in 2014 (abroad + U.S. and Canada road trip) and another multi-month U.S. road trip in 2016. 2015 was a blooper that we’ve erased from our memory. Hence, NYE 2017 required a getaway FOR SURE.

Accommodation:

December 30, 2016 – January 2, 2017
