Less than 24 Hours in Las Vegas

November 19 – 20, 2014: Neither of us had ever been to Las Vegas and neither of us had a strong desire to visit this Sin City.

But, we figured we had to see it so we booked a room at The Venetian and subsidized some of the cost by using Hotel Tonight credits. On our way to the hotel we drove down the entire Las Vegas strip taking in the glitz, glam, and grotesqueness of ‘Merica. Upon arriving at the hotel they led us to an off-site oversize lot to park Camper Dan and shuttled us back to the hotel where we thoroughly enjoyed a nice, hot shower. Showering has become somewhat of a luxury.

We enjoyed an expensive ($200+) dinner at Delmonaco Steakhouse within The Venetian. We shared a cheap ($45) bottle of wine, the Charcuterie entrée which included sides of asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes, and a pecan pie desert. It was all very good.

After dinner we walked the strip taking in the sights and sounds; we viewed the volcano light and water show at the Mirage, walked through the Wynn and the Encore, had a few beers at a bar, and didn’t return to the hotel room until around 2:00 AM. I think we did Vegas right. We took advantage of the hotel room and slept in as late as possible before having an expensive brunch and playing our obligatory game of slots – three $1 slot pulls with no winners.

My opinion about Las Vegas? Ridiculousness to the extreme and I have no idea why anyone loves it.
