November 3 – 6, 2014: We’ve already visited a ton of breweries on this road trip (we’ll have to write a recap post just on the topic of breweries) but, after visiting Hearst Castle we headed to Buellton to visit BarrelWorks. November 2 – 3, 2014: After departing Pfieffer Big Sur State Park Campground we stopped at the general store (Big Sur Deli) in Big Sur for breakfast burritos. We took our burritos and had a breakfast with a view at some random spot on the side of Coastal Route 1. I recommend you do the
October 31 – November 1, 2014: When we departed Yosemite National Park we headed back to Los Banos, California and had Camper Dan’s brakes checked. All was reported well so we continued on to the Santa Cruz area where Michael was interested in – surprise! – a brewery.
October 25 – 28, 2014: Both of us have spent time in various parts of California so our primary objective for California is to seek out breweries for Michael, see family and friends, and visit Yellowstone.
October 22 – 25, 2014: Inside Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park we did the Simpson-Reed and Stout Grove hikes. Both were essentially short strolls and were a peaceful and relaxing introduction to California.
October 19 – 22, 2014: We love cheese. Our first stop as we headed from Portland towards the Oregon coastline was in Tillamook at the Tillamook cheese factory. We quickly completed the self-guided tour to get to the cheese samples and ice cream.
October 14 – 17, 2014: Departing Mount St. Helens and the Ape Caves, we headed to the Columbia River Gorge area. The Columbia River Gorge is the largest scenic area in the United States, extending more than 100 miles east of Portland, and consists of a very diverse landscape carving a canyon between Washington and Oregon
October 11 – 13, 2014: I really was disappointed that we didn’t get out to Vancouver Island and the San Juan Islands, however, the weather conditions combined with the unexpected amount of time already spent in Canada pushed us back into the United States.
